Our Partnership with Move for Hunger
We’re proud to be an active partner with Move for Hunger, a national non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger. This collaboration allows us to transform every move we handle into an opportunity to help those facing food insecurity right here in our community.
The Need is Real
Food insecurity affects millions of Americans, including many of our neighbors in South Carolina. Consider these sobering statistics:
- More than 38 million Americans struggle with hunger
- In South Carolina alone, over 500,000 people face food insecurity
- This includes 1 in 6 children in our state
What’s particularly troubling is that nearly 40% of all food in America goes to waste. When people move, they often throw away perfectly good food that could help those in need.
How Our Program Works
Our Move for Hunger initiative is simple but powerful:
- When You’re Moving: Instead of throwing away unopened, non-perishable food items during your move, our crews will collect them.
- Community Drop-Offs: Not moving? You can still participate by dropping off donations at our office location.
- Direct Delivery: We transport all collected items directly to local food banks and pantries where they’re distributed to families in need.
